Galapagos boats that only offer (8-day) 7-night cruises   Leave a comment

There are a large number of clients that request cruises that do not have change over days. What they are referring to is that midway through the cruise, some passengers may end their cruise while other new clients board the boat. This occurs on the vast majority of Galapagos cruise for the following reason: most boats offer 7-night (8-day), 4-night (5-day) and 3-night (4-day) cruises. How do they do it. Simple. Let’s take the first class motor boat, Eden, as an example. This yacht’s itinerary runs from Sunday to Sunday or from Thursday to Thursday for a 7-night cruise. The Sunday to Sunday cruise would be the following …

SUN: BALTRA / SANTA CRUZ (Bachas Beach)
MON: NORTH SEYMOUR / SANTA FE
TUE: ESPANOLA (Gardner Bay / Punta Suarez)
WED: FLOREANA (Post Office Bay / Devil’s Crown / Punta Cormorant)
THU: SANTA CRUZ (Charles Darwin Station / Highlands)
FRI: SANTIAGO (Puerto Egas) / BARTOLOME
SAT: GENOVESA (Darwin Bay / Prince Phillip’s Steps)
SUN SANTA CRUZ (Black Turtle Cove) / BALTRA

The Thursday to Thursday cruise would be the following ….

THU BALTRA / SANTA CRUZ (Highlands)
FRI: SANTIAGO (Puerto Egas) / BARTOLOME
SAT: GENOVESA (Darwin Bay / Prince Phillip’s Steps)
SUN: SANTA CRUZ (Black Turtle Cove) / SANTA CRUZ (Bachas Beach)
MON: NORTH SEYMOUR / SANTA FE
TUE ESPANOLA (Gardner Bay / Punta Suarez)
WED: FLOREANA (Post Office Bay / Devil’s Crown / Punta Cormorant)
THU: SANTA CRUZ (Charles Darwin Station) / BALTRA

As is the case with most Galapagos boats, this yacht also offers 4-night (5-day) and 3-night (4-day) cruises. The 4-night cruises run from Sunday to Thursday and from Wednesday to Sunday, while the 3-night cruise runs from Thursday to Sunday. Therefore, the change over days on this yacht are Thursdays and Sundays. Those passengers mid way through there cruise on the change over day will notice this as they have to wait for passengers to be dropped off and/or new passengers picked up.

Galapagos boats the currently do not have change over days (i.e., all passengers stay together for the entire 7-nights (8-days) are:

  • TOURIST CLASS: all have change overs (i.e., 7, 4 & 3-night cruise combination)
  • TOURIST SUPERIOR CLASS: SAMBA & VALKIRIA are the only boats in this class that only offers 7-night cruises.
  • FIRST CLASS: the following only offer 7-night cruise (with very rare exceptions)

    • BEAGLE
    • BELUGA
    • CACHALOTE
    • ERIK/LETTY/FLAMINGO
    • GENOVESA
    • MARY ANNE
    • NEMO II
    • SAGITTA
  • DELUXE CLASS: the following only offer 7-night cruise (with very rare exceptions)
  • ALTA
